Harley Davidson Sportster
Harley Davidson was formally established in 1907 but it took almost six years before the company reached the point of being commercially recognized. It all started with a plan of William Harvey for an engine specifically designed for a motorcycle. With the help of brothers Arthur and Walter Davidson, they completed the planned engine in 1903. After the company’s establishment in 1907, Harley Davidson became the byword for powerful motorcycles. Eventually, they became the biggest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world during the 20s. More than 100 years after its establishment, the company is now associated with muscle motorcycles that could face the challenges of most types of road.The sportster design of Harley Davidson was introduced late in 50s. This type of Harley Davidson motorcycle has the looks of Dyna but without the bigger coil that covers the suspension. The pre-2004 models of sportster were constructed with their engine intact on the frame. This has significantly reduced the weight of sportster but it has sacrificed the comfort of the rider because of increased vibration. The sportser could be identified with the prefix XL and they come in two types of engines. The smaller engine is usually tagged somewhere in XL883 while the larger engine on XL1100 or XL1200.
